MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT PETER MAYNE
A week ago I was thinking little had changed in light of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Amazing the difference a week makes!
You will all have received an email notification that District 9930 has required all club presidents to suspend club meetings until at least the end of June 2020 Accordingly our club will cease meetings – inclusive of this coming Monday’s meeting (23 March).
In light of the above change, the board is proposing to meet via an online programme known as Zoom. This is accessible via PC, Laptop, Tablet or cellphone (data). The new Monday meeting format will be quite different from our traditional meeting and probably only last for 30 minutes. It will provide an avenue for members to keep informed and share ideas. I’ll take advice on the commencing time of the meeting but I’m in favour of a 6.30 pm start so members can enjoy a meal first.
Several of us will test Zoom over the next week and we propose to have our first online meeting on Monday 30 March 2020. Bear with us while we test the system and develop instructions for accessing these meetings.
Rotary International and our own District Governor are urging us to identify ways in which we can support people through this pandemic however I am reluctant to venture into a new project while we have such a high commitment to our Te Mata Park Trust guard duty project. Lyn will continue to seek your support to fill guard duty rosters and I urge you to email him and let him know of your availability.
In order to move our resources to pandemic prevention action, following our commitment to Te Mata Park Trust, please let me know of any ways you believe our club can help. Of course, there is nothing to stop you from acting individually or in groups if you see an opportunity and have the time. More information will follow. In the interim follow all prevention measures and keep safe. Peter Mayne
A reminder that our club has its own website: rotaryhavelocknorth.org.nz You can find current and past bulletins here as well as a calendar showing future meeting details. Save the site as a favourite for easy access.
