TWO MINUTE TALK – Mike Konig
Mike reminded us with autumn comes Easter. He spoke about the Christian observance of Easter and how it is set on the calendar. He spoke about the different traditions associated with the season. Mike told us about traditions in his boyhood in Germany especially the Easter Egg Hunt, Bonfires and blowing eggs so they could be painted and hung on trees. He also compared the Easter baked goods in Germany and Europe.
GUEST SPEAKER – Ken Haines
Assistant Governor Ken spoke about a recent three week trip with a group of Rotarians to St Jude’s School in Arusha, Tanzania. On the way over they had a stopover in Doha where they were able to visit Sidra Hospital. He showed some photos of this stunning hospital for women and children. costing 7.9 billion US dollars.
Ken gave a power point presentation of his visit to St Jude’s where they are fighting poverty through education. Education is provided for 2000 students who are children from the slums.

Your duty may involve the use of equipment; you must put it away at the end of the meeting.

Scott thanked Jessica Dufty on behalf of the council who helped supervise at the Osmanthus Garden light show in Hastings last week.
Lyn Hann went over the final arrangements for Coutry2Coast and handed out duties to members.Thanks to Lyn, John and their mentor Kevin Longman we are all set for a good day on Sunday 28 April.
