Goodbye Zoom, it’s been good to know you!
Goodbye Zoom, it’s been good to know you! On the 20th of March, Havelock North Rotary Club received a recommendation from their District Governor that all Rotary club meetings should be suspended. A few days later, our country moved into Alert Level 3 and then Level 4.
Fortunately, we had plans for such an eventuality. By Monday 30th we were ready to start holding online meetings via Zoom. Our guest speaker that night was Gabby Anderson. Gabby gave a PowerPoint presentation on her year as a Rotary Exchange student based in the city of Moscow, Idaho, USA. We had a really good attendance of Rotarians. Very few had any problems adapting to the new method of holding meetings.
Since then, all Rotary meetings have been online. We have had some wonderful speakers and all meetings have been an amazing success.
However, we all miss meeting face to face and have now resumed the usual meetings at the Community Centre.
The Zoom Rotary meeting on Monday 22nd of June was likely to be our last online club meeting for now. However, it is probable that committee and Board meetings may still use this method.
The success of our online meetings has exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Goodbye Zoom – it really was great to know you!
